Episode 103 – Portrait of a portraitist

As he visits the Algarve for the first time in preparation of a forthcoming  exhibition, Sacha Newley talks to TGIF about his life and his beliefs, and his passion for painting and portraits. A passion that led him to outstanding encounters as he made his way amongst today’s most established painters, despite  the burden of his linage, being the son of actor Anthony Newley and incendiary mega star Joan Collins. Enjoy!

Episode 88 – Cultural Creatives

Imagine a world without money, where working wouldn’t be a necessity but a choice, where you would do what you are best at, what you love doing and what has a real meaning for you. Where it wouldn’t be society feeding on what it needs, dictating what it requires and turning artists into bar tenders, students into permanent trainees, great potential entrepreneurs and creators into bank assistants, pensioners into a sterile and unused force, and so on…

Imagine a world without money, where the world’s resources would be considered Humanity’s legacy, available to all, regardless of nations, religious or political views, where the mere fact of being born would give you the right to be fed, live a comfortable life and be nothing else than what you want to be. In a world like this, what would you do with your life?

In their essay The Cultural Creatives: How 50 Million People Are Changing the World, American sociologist Paul Ray and psychologist Sherry Anderson, as a result of a long and in-depth study, point out an emerging group of individuals in modern society. Today, new ideas from inspired cultural creatives are just a click away on your internet browser. Amongst them, today’s show brings you the Zeitgeist movement and the TED conferences. The future is calling us. Enjoy.
